SICK PUPPIES DUMPED IN PIKE COUNTY

These 5 puppies were dumped at a house in Pike county. The older lady who lives there contacted us for the second time to see if we could take the puppies from her. People are constantly dumping puppies at her house. There is also a feral female dog who lives in the area that is always producing puppies. Like most of the dogs that roam free in the town of Zebulon, the county seat, these puppies have sarcoptic mange. It is also called scabies. It is transmittable to humans and other dogs. Children who play with these puppes can contract scabies. If there was a shelter in Pike county, there would be somewhere for these dogs to go so they could get treatment and find homes. It would also protect people from getting diseases from them.
For now, Pike County Animal Advocates will be taking in as many as we can, getting them treated, and transporting them to rescue groups in the northern US where they will be spayed/neutered and found new homes.
These puppies are currently being treated for sarcoptic mange and will be going to rescue in a couple of weeks. One more litter saved from starvation, suffering from mange and most likely being killed by a car as they wander through town.
